What we do

We strive to provide as a point of contact for the Project Controls, a few requirements as described below:

  • To implement project deliverables within the timeframe and budget by the project management team.
  • Create, execute, and administer the forecasts, cash flows, and internal cost reports.
  • To ensure proper monitoring of schedule management, cost management, and value management.
  • To conduct cost control, procurement, construction planning, engineering, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Study the reports on project controls and offer recommendations to the project control team.
  • To setup the project in Oracle Primavera Contracts Management Program or Financial MIS/PPS Accounting module.
  • To review and analyze data and execute reports in Oracle Financials’ PPS/MIS Accounting software or Oracle Primavera Contracts Manager software.
  • To setup a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for tracking the breakdown of sub contracts and purchase orders.
  • Administer the internal CMS (Change Management System).
  • To review the change orders (upstream/downstream/prime contract/PO & Subcontract).
  • Provide updates on forecasts and cost reports.
  • Prepare and submit a report on cash flow.
  • Prepare schedules (level 1 - 3) and diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
  • Fix the right reporting format and create various reports accordingly.
  • To monitor the schedule of resource loading.
  • Create and present the tracking document on earned value.
  • Analyze the data received from Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Create project scheduling reports in Oracle Primavera P6 and analyze them for accuracy.
  • To conduct inspections for quality checking on project deliverables.
  • Work as a forum to discuss technical issues from the construction staff, APMs, PMs, and lead engineers.

We also undertake

Planning:

  • Define the scope of work as per the directions of the Project Management Group to identify priorities, budget, time constraints, and quality parameters;
  • To source, negotiate, and award contractors;
  • Ensure the availability of design and engineering resources;
  • Review design specifications created by engineers before distributing the same to city officials and contractors;
  • Create recommendations for approval by the management based on scopes;
  • Create in-house design specifications for projects before tendering – Bid Management;
  • Execute tendering and analysis accurately – Proposal Management;
  • Execute pre-construction work with suppliers and contractors

Implementation:

  • Monitor all projects and ensure they are finished within budget and time;
  • Develop and coordinate project-related work schedules;
  • Provide status reports of projects and make the needed schedule adjustments;
  • Ensure the ‘off-site’ work is executed as per the criteria;
  • Ensure the effective management of all project-related processes including finished components, controlled access sites, and raw materials;
  • Achieve project objectives by managing external and internal resources;
  • Comply with established operating procedures

Project Administration:

  • Provide direction to the team and collate all documents related to the project
  • Update the status of the project and prepare weekly and monthly reports
  • Review invoices – Invoice Management
  • Adhere to provincial regulations and legislations Record Management

Monitoring/Closing:

  • Maintain progress reports, perform regular reviews, and offer updates to the stakeholders;
  • Improve on initiatives for cost savings;
  • Report the status of project development to senior management;
  • Create a deficiency report to be resolved by the contractor after conducting deficiency meetings

Client: Nuclear Waste Management Org. (the year 2019 – 20)

About nwmo: The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) ensures the safe and long-term management of used nuclear fuel in Canada. It involved Adaptive Phased Management (APM) comprising the development of an underground repository and collaboration from Canadian universities, international waste management organizations, and consultants.

Role: Cost Consultancy Services

Provided Project budgeting and detailed cost estimate updates for this CAD 24Bn budgeted project spread from the year 2010 till 2050

Software Used: Hard Dollar, Business World, Oracle P6, Visio and MS Excel

Our contribution:

Provided cost estimates and back up break down under various disciplines to create the cost budget and to monitor the cost using the Financial software: Business world.

The five-year project cost budget includes costs for completing

  • Site Selection
  • nwmo operational costs
  • Site geotechnical investigation
  • Design and detailed engineering costs
  • Construction, Installation and Commissioning of  Used Fuel Packing Plant (UFPP)
  • Transportation
  • Plant operations cost for the design life and to safely dispose of 120,000 Mn bundles of used fuel bundles

The project cost updates were prepared and submitted to the board for approval and in turn, obtain the regulatory approval from the Energy Regulator – OEB.
